A 17-year-old Bradford youth is charged with impaired driving by drugs after police responded to a suspicious vehicle call in Bradford.

On Monday, July 23, 2018, around 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of Simcoe Road and Marshview Boulevard by a citizen who said a vehicle was stopped and the male driver was possibly sleeping.

When police spoke to the driver, they detected signs of impairment and an odour of freshly burnt narcotic.

The teen was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert who gave the result that the accused was impaired by drugs.

He was charged with impaired driving and released with a court date. His licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded. A quantity of suspected narcotics was seized.

The repercussions of driving impaired are the same regardless of whether it's by drugs or alcohol. The danger to the public is also the same and we thank the citizen for reporting this incident. If you see a suspected impaired driver, pull over and call 911.
