Thornton man in critical condition after vehicle rollover in Innisfil

South Simcoe police say speed was a factor in crash; alcohol and drugs also being looked at as possible contributing factors

INNISFIL -- South Simcoe Police Service officers are looking for witnesses to a single-vehicle rollover collision in Innisfil.

The collision occurred at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 on 10 Sideroad between 4th Line and 5th Line. 

A northbound Acura travelling at a high rate of speed lost control, struck a utility pole and then rolled several times before coming to a stop in a field. 

A 24-year-old Thornton man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a Toronto trauma by Ornge air ambulance. He is listed in critical but stable condition.

The investigation being led by the traffic unit is ongoing and charges are pending. 

Investigators have determined that speed was a factor in the collision.

Alcohol and drugs are also being investigated as possible contributing causes.
