The South Simcoe Police Service has determined that a threat made to a Bradford school this morning was a hoax.
On Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at 8:18 a.m., police were notified of a threat to W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford. The school was placed in hold and secure while police investigated. During a hold and secure, activities continue inside the building, but all exterior doors are locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building.
Following a thorough investigation, police believe the threat was not credible and a possible case of “swatting”when anonymous callers report fake threats to prompt a large police response. The hold and secure was lifted at 11:30 a.m. after police deemed the school safe. The investigation is ongoing to identify the person responsible for the threat.
