Traffic complaint leads to impaired, assault charges for New Tecumseth driver

On Friday June 4, 2021, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, responded to a traffic complaint on Casserley Crescent, Town of New Tecumseth.

Officers located the driver and vehicle in question and the investigation subsequently revealed the driver to be impaired.

As a result, 22-year-old Supreet Brar, of New Tecumseth has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol, contrary to s. 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to s. 320.14(1)(b)
  • Assault, contrary to s. 266 CC
  • Uttering threats, contrary to s. 264.1 (1)(a) CC

The accused was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on July 8, 2021.
