VIDEO: No one injured in drive-by shooting at Newmarket home

A neighbour's video shows a black Mercedes stopping in front of a home, then the sound of two loud pops before it takes off after 1 a.m. Sunday

York Regional Police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a drive-by shooting on a residential street in Newmarket early Sunday.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots in the Newmarket Heights neighbourhood, northeast of Davis Drive and Yonge Street, at about 1:15 a.m.

Two bullet holes were found at a house on Maurice Court, however, no injuries are reported.

Investigators believe that the shots were fired from a black Mercedes that quickly fled the scene.

Video footage posted on Facebook by neighbour Lucas Lawrence shows the car slowly approaching a house and stopping in front of it. Two loud pops can be heard before the car begins moving again.

"I was standing in the window when this happened," Lawrence wrote on social media.

"Crazy thing is nobody heard this go down. The cop told me I was the only 911 call. Kinda blows my mind ... Nobody came outside I went out immediately to see what I could see."

According to Lawrence, two bullets went through a basement window without shattering it.

"Maybe he wanted to send a message," commented one commented, "I bet not a lot of Mercedes cars drove in Newmarket at 1 a.m."

Other residents commenting on the post also noted a drive-by shooting occurred in Aurora in mid-December.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting and has not spoken to them, or anyone who has a video, to call 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7171.
