The fourth oldest marathon canoe race in Ontario, Marsh Mash, is taking place this Saturday, May 14, 2022.

For over 40 years, the race has attracted canoeists, kayakers, stand-up paddleboarders, and outrigger paddlers from all over the province. Surrounding the Holland Marsh, the Canal provides one of the best canoe racing courses in Ontario. This year, the route for the pro-boats will go around the entire marsh (28km) for the first time in 35 years!

Registration is now available online at www.marshmash.ca. All athletes must register online in advance. Registration closes on Friday, May 13 at 12:00 pm.

Athletes can check in starting at 8:00 am on race day, at Sovereign Grace Church (1466 5th Side Road, Bradford West Gwillimbury). An athlete briefing will take place at 9:15 am before the race start at 10:00 am.

Did you know that Marsh Mash is not just for experienced canoeists and kayakers? There are a number of classes and choices of race distances, including recreational categories like the 6km adult & child category. Classes range from paddlers with very little canoe racing experience, to very competitive paddlers.

The race continues to operate in a partnership with Iain Craig and his family, and the BWG Community Services Department. The event is sanctioned by the Ontario Marathon Canoe and Kayak Racing Association (OMCKRA) and is a World Team Qualifier for the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships, as well as host to the Provincial Championships for the Mixed C2 class.
