Will your family members with limited mobility or special needs be looked after in the event of an emergency?

Emergencies can be especially difficult for seniors and others who depend on electrical equipment or specialized aids in their home, or who would need extra help during an evacuation.

If you have seniors in your life – family, friends or neighbours – they may need your help to make it through an emergency, or to prepare in advance. Don’t be caught without a plan! Caregivers should review the Emergency Preparedness Guide for People with Disabilities/Special Needs and follow the guidelines well in advance of an urgent situation.

WHERE DO I GET INFORMATION DURING AN EMERGENCY?

During emergencies, the Town of BWG posts information on Facebook and shares it with local media, including radio stations Rock 95 and 107.5 Kool FM. During a serious emergency in which extra support services are required (such as evacuation centres or water stations), the Town will partner with the 2-1-1 telephone information service to answer calls.

At ANY time, residents can dial 2-1-1 to speak to a real person who can provide advice on community services available to you.
