Five free things at the BWG Library

From study supports like online tutoring and Reader Pens that help with dyslexia, to book clubs and other online activities, the BWG Library has you covered during this stay at home order.Here are five free resources that you can access to break up the monotony, while still respecting the latest COVID restrictions!

Reader Pens

Reader Pens are pocket-sized devices that read text out loud in English, Spanish or French.  Simply pass the nib across a word and it instantly displays the definition on a small screen and reads the word aloud.This helpful tool assists with reading difficulties and language learning.  Any cardholder is able to borrow a Reader Pen for up to one week at a time.  Search for “Reader Pen” in the library’s catalogue to reserve yours today!

Earn free books through the Beanstack app

With the BWG Library’s Beanstack app, you can track your reading, earn badges, share book reviews and participate in challenges.  For many challenges, your name is entered into a draw for cool prizes, including gift certificates at local businesses.  Download the app today or explore the desktop version at bwglibrary.beanstack.com.

Backpacks

Get back to nature with the BWG Library’s Nature Backpacks. These themed backpacks provide a focus on learning outdoors, from ‘Things WithWings’ to ‘Creepy Crawly Critters’!  Each backpack contains books, activities and a magnifying glass to get you and your family exploring the outdoors.  Learn about bugs, animals, flowers and more as you complete activities like nature Bingo.  Visit the BWG Library catalogue to place your hold today!

Join a club

Join the BWG Library's Virtual Book Club to chat about great titles with other readers!  New members are welcome to join the discussion. The BWG Library Book Club meets on the Zoom platform on the last Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Click here to register for free.
