Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library is pleased to announce that it is undertaking an Equity Audit, which is an important part of our commitment to best serve our increasingly diverse community and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all library users and staff. The recommendations from the Equity Audit will help guide the Library’s work in the years to come to ensure our programs and service serve the diverse BWG community.

Turner Consulting Group, a consultancy firm that focuses on equity, diversity and inclusion, has been engaged to conduct this work. They will collect and analyze the data and prepare the final report to ensure the confidential participation of everyone.

The Library has identified several areas of focus for this Equity Audit, including:

  • Programming,
  • Policies and procedures,
  • Social media and promotions,
  • Outreach, and
  • Library collection development.

This audit will include consultations with the community, the Library Board and staff in order to provide a clearer picture of where the Library is and the path forward to ensure it is doing its best to be a leader and champion of diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism in the community.

The input of all members of the community is not just important, it is critical in order to ensure that diverse voices are heard and perspectives are considered.  We hope that you will take five minutes to share your experiences using the library and your perspective on the books and resources, programs and services, spaces, and people.  The survey covers your use of the BWG Library over the last two years, including your pre-COVID experiences.  Your responses will help the library to provide better services to BWG’s diverse community.  You can access the survey at www.BWGLibrarySurvey.com
