National AccessAbility Week is dedicated to celebrating, promoting, and supporting disability inclusion and accessibility throughout Canada.

National AccessAbility Week 2024 is taking place from May 26 to June 1, under the theme of "Forward Together: Accessibility and Inclusion for All."

Throughout the week, the Town of BWG will be celebrating accessibility and disability inclusion throughout our community and invite residents to celebrate the accomplishments of people who proactively identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility and disability inclusion!

Participating in AccessAbility Week

There are several ways to get involved in AccessAbility Week.

  1. Attend our Event and Flag Raising
Join our Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) at their Annual AccessAbility Week Event at the Leisure Centre on Monday, May 27 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. The AAC will have a booth at the Community Corner (indoors) of the Leisure Centre, ready to answer your questions and listen to your ideas. A Flag Raising will follow at 5:30 pm outdoors at the Leisure Centre.
  2. Participate in Red Shirt Day!
We encourage community members to wear red on Wednesday, May 29 to show their support for people living with disabilities and their commitment to helping create an accessible and inclusive Canada. Share a selfie or group photo using hashtags #NAAW, #RedShirtDay, and #RedForAccessAbility and tag @townofbwg. Learn more at www.redshirtday.ca
  3. Follow the Town of BWG on Social Media
