I’m Barb Baguley and I am running for mayor of Innisfil, so that I can continue serving residents and working to better our great community.

I have the political experience, leadership skills and commitment to the community. I believe these are necessary traits for the next mayor.

I was first elected as Ward 1 councillor and then served as deputy mayor for three terms before becoming mayor from 2010 to 2014.

I’ve volunteered across the community, including as a board member for Crime Stoppers of Simcoe Dufferin Muskoka, the Innisfil Arts, Culture and Heritage Council, and the Greater Innisfil Chamber of Commerce. I am a proud Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Innisfil.

I truly enjoy being involved and helping people, whether that means solving a problem or pointing someone in the right direction to find answers to their questions. To stay connected, I started a Facebook page called From the Other Side of the Desk, a forum that has invited people to reach out to me for assistance.

As mayor, I spearheaded the creation of the Innisfil Community Health Committee and began the process to build the health hub, currently under construction. I worked with the community to start the Innisfil Farmers’ Market and launched the Mayor’s Gala and Golf Tournament, funding the Spirit of the Community grant for local organizations.

Innisfil has grown and changed a great deal in the past few years, and we need a council that is focused on providing core services to residents and managing tax dollars responsibly.

Time away from council gave me an opportunity to become connected to the town in new and exciting ways. I believe stepping away has left me better prepared to come back and lead council again.
