My name is Carl Hordyk.

I am very proud to have been born and raised in Bradford West Gwillimbury. I have lived in Bond Head with my loving wife, Kim, for the past 26 years, where we raised our family. We have three adult children and are very excited to be expecting our first grandchild in December.

I have been employed at the same local business for the last 31 years.

I was elected to council in 2010 and served a four-year-term as the Ward 4 councillor. I worked very hard to make a difference and help our residents during that period of time. I was involved in many committees:

  • BWG Public Library Board — 2010-2014
  • Accessibility Advisory Committee, vice chair — 2010-2014
  • Fire and Emergency Services Committee — 2010-2014
  • Civics Awards Committee, chair — 2010-2014
  • Bradford West Gwillimbury Appeal Tribunal, chair — 2014-Present

For eight years, I have been a director of the BWG Community Initiatives, and for five years the chair of Bradford Community Gardens. I continue to work hard and want to make a difference in our community.

I created a successful electronics recycling program in 2010 and continue to organize it today because I care about our environment. Approximately 20 tractor-trailer loads of electronics have been diverted.

In 2010, I received two awards that I am very proud of. The first is the St. John's Life-saving Award and the second is the OPP Commissioner’s Commendation for the life-saving action. I am also a proud recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for volunteering in my community.
