Employee at Longo's East Gwillimbury tests positive for COVID-19

Longo's on Green Lane in East Gwillimbury is reporting an employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee last worked on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the location that borders on East Gwillimbury and Newmarket.

The grocer posts confirmed COVID-19 cases for all "guest-facing" employees for 14 days after the last shift worked.

"We want to assure you that our stores and team members have been operating under heightened preventive measures and in accordance with direction from public health to protect against the spread of COVID-19," states president Anthony Longo on Longo's website. 

A COVID-19 case was also reported for  Longo's Markham store on Feb. 11 for an employee who last worked Jan. 31. 

Other recent COVID-19 cases at York Region grocery stores were reported: on Feb. 11 for an employee who last worked Feb. 8 at Fortinos on Highway 27 in Vaughan; on Feb. 10 for an employee who last worked Feb. 4 at Sobeys on Clark Avenue West in Thornhill; on Feb. 9 for an employee who last worked Jan. 9 at Food Basics on Islington Avenue in Woodbridge; on Feb. 9 for two employees who last worked Jan. 31 and Feb. 6 at Shoppers Drug Mart on Dufferin Street in Vaughan; and on Feb. 7 for two employees who last worked Feb. 2 and 4 at Zehrs on Woodbine Avenue in Keswick.
