10 new COVID-19 cases reported since Friday at Simcoe County schools

Out of the 10 new COVID-19 cases being reported at schools across Simcoe County since Friday, one of them is at a Bradford School.

A new case is being reported at Chris Hadfield Public School with one classroom closure. This adds to a case and classroom closure previously reported at the school.

One new case is being reported at Andrew Hunter Elementary School in Barrie. This adds to three cases and two classroom closures previously reported at the school.

Also in Barrie, there is one case being reported at Ferndale Woods Elementary School. Innisdale Secondary School has one new case, and one classroom closed as a result.

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School has two new COVID-19 cases, and two new classroom closures. This adds to one case previously reported at the Barrie school. St. Mary's Catholic School in Barrie is reporting one new case and classroom closure.

Our Lady of Grace has two new COVID-19 cases at the school, with one new classroom closure. This adds to one case and classroom closure previously reported at the Angus school.

There is one case at Sunnybrae Public School in Innisfil, with one classroom closed.

There are three Simcoe County schools that have active outbreaks declared by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit: Maple Grove Public School in Barrie, Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford and Andrew Hunter Elementary School in Barrie.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is responsible for declaring a COVID-19 outbreak in the region. According to the health unit site, an outbreak is declared at a school when student and/or staff have confirmed COVID-19 cases that can be linked to the educational setting.

As of March 15, at the Simcoe County District School Board, there are currently 17 active COVID-19 cases:

  • One case at Ferndale Woods Elementary School in Barrie
  • One case at Sunnybrae Public School in Innisfil, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Innisdale Secondary School in Barrie with one classroom closed
  • One case at Portage View Public School in Barrie, with one classroom closed
  • Four cases at Andrew Hunter Elementary School in Barrie, with two classroom closures, outbreak declared Mar. 9
  • One case at Tecumseth South Central Public School in Tottenham, with one classroom closure
  • Two cases at West Bayfield Elementary School in Barrie, with two classroom closures
  • One case at Bradford District High School with two classroom closures
  • Two cases at Chris Hadfield Public School in Bradford, with two classroom closures
  • Two cases at Fieldcrest Elementary School in Bradford, with two classroom closures
  • One case at W.C. Little Elementary School in Barrie, with one classroom closed

At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 22 active COVID-19 cases:

  • St. Mary's Catholic School in Barrie has one case and one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 13
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School in Barrie has one case and one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 11
  • Father F.X. O'Reilly Catholic School in Tottenham has one case, reported on Mar. 11
  • Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Angus has three cases and two classroom closures, reported on Mar. 14
  • St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School in Barrie has two cases and one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 10
  • St. Charles Catholic School in Bradford has one case and one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 8
  • The Good Shepherd Catholic School in Barrie has two cases and two classroom closures, reported on Mar. 7
  • Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie has three cases with two classroom closures, reported Mar. 14
  • St. Mary's Catholic School in Collingwood has one case, with one classroom closure, reported Mar. 3
  • Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford has three cases, with two classroom closures, reported on Mar. 9, outbreak declared Mar. 2
  • St. Theresa's Catholic High School in Midland has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Feb. 28
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School has three cases, with four classroom closures, reported on Mar. 10

The health unit will contact those who are considered to have had high-risk exposure to a known case of COVID-19.
