Two new COVID cases in Bradford today

One of the cases is attributed to close contact, the other is under investigation

After a day without new cases, the local health unit reported three new positive COVID-19 tests in the region today. 

So far this week, the health unit has reported 16 new cases of the coronavirus in Simcoe County and one in Muskoka.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported two new cases out of Bradford West-Gwillimbury. Both cases are women, one in her 30s and one in her 20s. The first case is still under investigation and the second was listed as a close contact transmission. 

The third case reported today is from Severn, a man in his 70s. The case is listed as community-acquired and it is the first case reported in Severn since June 2. The man has been hospitalized.

The average incidence rate of COVID-19 in Ontario is 220.3 cases per 100,000 people. In Simcoe Muskoka, the incidence rate is 89 cases per 100,000 people. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed a total of 529 COVID-19 cases in the region to-date and 448 of those people have recovered. Yesterday the health unit reported zero new cases, which is the second time this month the region has had a 24-hour period with no new cases.

There have been 36 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the region. There are currently 44 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County including six people in hospital. There is one active case of COVID-19 in Muskoka District.
