The Bradford Arts Centre is continuing its commitment to bring the arts to Bradford with a concert this weekend.

On Saturday, the centre, located at Bradford United Church, is welcoming members of the York Chamber Ensemble for a concert celebrating The Age of the Concerto.

A concerto is a musical composition, generally with three movements that gives voice to a soloist.

It was popular in the Baroque period of the 17th century, when composers like Vivaldi, Telemann and Bach created works for stringed and wind instruments and the human voice.

Flautist Jewell Devin, oboist Eleanor Marshall and violinist Michael Adamson will perform Bach’s Suite in B Minor for flute, and a Bach Concerto for Oboe and Violin, as well as Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 (please arrive early). Tickets will be available at the door — $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students (with ID), and $10 for children under age 10.

For more information, call 905-751-5335. To learn more about the York Chamber Ensemble and its 2018-2019 concert series, The Age of Elegance, visit here.

The Bradford Arts Centre, at 66 Barrie St., is a performance space that seats up to 200 people.
