NEWS RELEASE
INNISFIL IDEALAB & LIBRARY
*************************
The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library is excited to announce that it will be one of five libraries taking part in the first ever Simcoe Reads contest.

The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library will join Barrie, Bradford-West Gwillimbury, Essa, and Midland in this friendly reading competition. Each Library has chosen one book for the challenge, along with a local celebrity to champion the title.

Innisfil has chosen the title Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice. Mr. Rice is an author and journalist originally from Wasauksing First Nation. His novel, Moon of the Crusted Snow, released in October 2018 tells the story of a small northern Anishinaabe community’s hardships. Frustrated by the building chaos, a group of young friends and their families turn to the land and Anishinaabe tradition in hopes of helping their community thrive again. Mr. Rice has visited the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library as part of our Spring Author Series. Our Community Champion, Mayor Lynn Dollin will defend this title.

“I’m excited to participate in the inaugural Simcoe Reads challenge,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Reading is an experience, whether you're diving headfirst into a brand new book or rereading an old favorite. There is no better way to spend an afternoon then with a good book.”

Over the next three months, residents are invited to read along with Mayor Dollin, explore all five choices, pick a favourite, and watch celebrities debate in a live broadcast event in September. The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library will also highlight Moon of the Crusted Snow in its Virtual Book Club, and ask our readers to provide book reviews. Watch for more details on our social media platforms.

5 Libraries. 5 Books. 1 Winner. Good luck to all our contenders!
