Bradford Midget A Bulldogs beat King on way to the OMHA quarterfinals (14 photos)

Two fast-paced periods, and a stop-and-go Third eliminate the King Rebellion

Bradford’s Midget A Bulldogs put down the King Rebellion on Saturday night to secure a berth in the OMHA Quarter-Finals.

The Bulldogs dominated the series, 7 points to 1. Game One was a 3-1 victory at the Trisan Centre, Game 2, a 1-1 tie, and Game 3 on Feb. 5, a 2-1 win over the Rebellion.

Game 4, held back at the BWG Leisure Centre on Feb. 8, saw the Bulldogs wrap up the series with a decisive 3-1 win.

Bradford was first on the scoreboard less than three minutes into the first period, with a goal by Carson Cameron (#25) from Noah Miranda (#22).

The action was fast-paced and end-to-end – and with 19 seconds left to go, Jackson Murdock scored Bradford’s second goal. Assists went to #15 Nathan Pruitt and #3 Thomas King

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead into the second period and kept up the pace, with Tyler Mumford (#14) adding a third goal halfway through the period, from Nolan Barrie (#10). But that was the end of Bradford’s scoring, as the penalties started to mount up.

Bradford held a 3-0 lead going into the third period. Facing elimination, a determined King squad pressed hard – and with 7:54 left on the clock, King’s Anthony Macedo scored, despite the Rebellion being down a man.

It was a chippy third period, with both teams piling up the penalties, and neither able to capitalize on the power play. With less than three minutes remaining, the Rebellion pulled their goalie for the extra man attacker, but couldn’t solve Bulldog’s goalie Davonte Auger – and Bradford couldn’t make its way past the swarming King attackers to put one in the empty net.

With penalties and time-outs, it was stop-and-go until the clock finally ran out, giving the Bulldogs the 3-1 win, and the series. They now wait to see who they will face in the OMHA Quarter-Final Playdowns.
