McDonald's in Schomberg will be selling cookies this weekend in support of We Care charity.

Buy a cookie this weekend from McDonald's in Schomberg and help send children with disabilities to camp this summer.

Proceeds from the cookie sales sold from Friday, Oct. 21 to Sunday, Oct. 23 at the McDonald’s restaurant in Schomberg at 65 Dillane Dr. will be donated to We Care charity, which helps send children with disabilities to Easter Seals camps across Canada, and Ronald McDonald House families. It costs $250 per day to send a child with disabilities to camp.

The restaurant has been participating in the fundraiser for the past three years. Restaurant owner Rory MacKinnon says over $2,500 was raised for the cause last year.

“Our team looks forward to this event each year now. During the pandemic, we wanted to make sure our team stayed positive including taking care of their mental
health.  What better way to do so by giving back and doing something great for our community?" said restaurant general manager Vanessa Breen. "When we got the opportunity to add We Care to our list of causes we support, our team was excited. I am proud of how hard they work during this event over the past few years and we are looking forward to it again this year."

"We Care is ecstatic that Rory’s team at McDonald’s Schomberg is doing it again! A community connection led to the first-ever We Care cookie fundraiser a few years ago with great success. We’re grateful that the team has made this an annual tradition, helping so many kids in the process. If you can make it out this weekend, please go show your support and stock up on cookies!" said Tiana Rodrigue, executive director of We Care.
