The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation is excited to announce a commitment of $100,000 from Buzbuzian Capital Corporation through its charitable foundation, the Richard and Jacob Buzbuzian Family Foundation.

“Generous commitments like this one are truly inspirational and demonstrate the importance of a redeveloped hospital to our community,” says Mary Thomas, CEO of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Thank you Richard Buzbuzian for taking the time to learn about the needs of the community and for your commitment to helping a redeveloped Stevenson become a reality.”

The funds will go directly to the ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign, which is the largest in the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s history. They will support the hospital’s redevelopment plan, which includes doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space, as well as improvements to outpatient rooms, birthing suites, and laboratory space.

The funds will also support much-needed improvements to the emergency department, which was initially built to manage 7,000 visits annually but now receives close to 40,000. The population of South Simcoe and surrounding communities continues to grow, and these improvements will benefit residents now and in years to come.

Paul Edmonds, cabinet volunteer at the ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign, said, “I met Richard while out in the community. Very quickly he expressed interest in helping support the hospital. Our growing community is attracting some truly inspirational and philanthropic new residents.”
