The owners of Ferragine Greenhouses are asking for the public’s help in identifying three women who they say stole a hanging flower basket and peppers from the Bradford West Gwillimbury garden centre Monday.
It is the second time in three months there has been a theft at the Simcoe Road garden centre.
South Simcoe police are searching for a man after a small amount of cash was taken in June at night when the garden centre was closed.
“After the theft this spring, we took measures to ensure that it wouldn't happen again. Unfortunately when people are this brazen it doesn't matter what you do,” read a post on the Ferragine Greenhouses Facebook page.
Three women arrived at the garden centre Monday but were told it was closed, said Coun. Peter Ferragine, whose family owns the business.
The women then walked around and looked at the products, picking peppers off plants for sale and taking a hanging basket, he said.
They attempted to take a planter, but when the owner confronted them, they dropped it and drove away, he said.
“(We have) videos that have clear shots of all three ladies’ faces and what they were driving. Unfortunately we can't make out the licence plate. If anyone knows these ladies or their vehicle, please report it to the police,” read the Facebook page.
“At the end of the day, you start losing that customer trust. You don’t want to lose that trust,” said Ferragine.
The phone number for the South Simcoe Police Service is 905-775-3311.
