Five events you have to check out in South Simcoe this weekend

Several Remembrance services, public skating on tap over the coming days

Whether you want to attend a solemn Remembrance Day service or shoot for a bullseye, there's plenty to do in Bradford and Innisfil this weekend.

We've got your go-to list of activities for the coming days. Here's some of what's planned in South Simcoe on Saturday and Sunday:

Bradford West Gwillimbury marks Remembrance Day

Royal Canadian Legion branch 521 in Bradford will be holding its annual Remembrance Day parade on Nov. 11 starting at 10 a.m. The route begins at Collings Avenue and Holland Street West and continues east along Holland to Bingham and Back streets towards the Orville Hand branch, where a moment of silence will be observed, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.

Remembrance Day at Royal Canadian Legion branch 547 

Residents are invited to join the ceremony taking place at the Lefroy/Belle Ewart branch (1017 Robinson St.). The event is scheduled for Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. For more information on the branch, email [email protected] or visit legion547.ca.

Public skating hits the ice Bradford

The BWG Leisure Centre will host all-ages public skating on Nov. 11 and 12. Everyone who participates in this leisure program should consider wearing a helmet and gloves while on the ice. Children nine years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, while food, drinks, skating aids, sticks, pucks, balls, sleds, chairs and strollers are not permitted. The Saturday session starts at 2:15 p.m.; Sunday skating begins at 12:15 p.m. More details can be found at calendar.townofbwg.com.

Teen darts at the legion

Also this weekend, branch 547 in Lefroy will host darts for teenagers 13 years and older (though mature 11- and 12-year-olds are welcome as well). Admission is free with a donation to the food bank. Domino's pizza will provide complimentary slices. The event runs from 12:30 to 3 p.m. To register, visit this sign-up page.

Sandycove Acres Remembrance ceremony

Residents are welcome to join the Sandycove Acres Veterans Association for a service at the cenotaph at 43 Weeping Willow Dr. on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
