Guests pack Bradford auditorium to celebrate Int'l Women’s Day

Free brunch hosted by Ward 1 Coun. Cheraldean Duhaney aimed to inspire inclusion and celebrate the accomplishments of local women

The second annual International Women’s Day brunch provided a particularly positive celebration of local women and their accomplishments Friday afternoon, March 8.

Hosted by Ward 1 Coun. Cheraldean Duhaney, the free event filled the Don Harrison Auditorium of the Bradford and District Memorial Community Centre to capacity with 150 women inspiring inclusion and promoting equality as well as sharing their values and perspectives.

The event included a proclamation from Mayor James Leduc, a rousing speech from Duhaney, a discussion with guest speaker and Bond Head Women’s Institute president Liz Moore, multiple photos booths, music, fashion by Bola Ameen and of course plenty of tasty dishes for brunch along with sparkling beverages.

Duhaney also gave special recognition to the planning committee: Anna Glotsky, Nusrat Awan, Jennifer Bahinski and Tiffany Tyrell-Shand.

The event wrapped up with an energetic performance from Cathy McLean, owner of Cathy-Zumba in da House, who along with others, lead the entire crowd in a dance routine.
