TOWN OF NEWMARKET
In celebration of National Public Works Week (May 19 to 25) — where we recognize the theme It Starts Here — the Town of Newmarket is inviting everyone to the Touch a Truck event on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Robert N. Shelton Operations Centre (1275 Maple Hill Court).
This free event is brought to you by the Town of Newmarket and is sponsored by: Rice Group, Vince’s Market, Royalcrest Paving and Contracting LTD., Cobs Bread, Wolfpack Packaging Inc., ENVI Network and Battlefield Equipment.
What: This event will showcase the day-to-day trucks, vehicles and equipment used by the men and women who work in Public Work Services. Vehicles and equipment at the event include, but are not limited to fire truck(s), Zamboni, mini-excavator, dump truck, and more!
Residents and community members will have the opportunity to learn more about each truck, vehicle and equipment and other initiatives related to Public Works Services at this event. Don’t forget to check out our LEED Silver Standard Operations Building and our greenhouse.
This theme represents the many facets of modern civilization that grow out of the efforts put forth by the public works professionals across North America. Public Works Services determines a society’s quality of life through providing clean water, disposing of solid waste, building roads and bridges, removing snow on roadways and devising emergency management strategies to meet natural or manmade disasters and more.
The Canadian Public Works Association and the Town of Newmarket honours the vital contribution public works professionals make everyday to communities all across North America and invites the public to celebrate their quiet dedication and indispensable influence on our way of life.
