McDonald’s Canada is excited to announce that Jennifer Thornhill, manager of the Duckworth Street McDonald’s Restaurant in Barrie, has won a 2021 Outstanding Manager of the Year award.

McDonald's franchisees and regional management annually nominate restaurant managers across the country to recognize and reward top performing managers for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to McDonald's Canada and its customers.

Jennifer works alongside her crew members to serve quality food, with excellent service and friendly smiles to restaurant guests. Her significant contribution to employee growth, restaurant operations and marketing continues to make a positive impact on both employees and guests.

Jennifer started working for McDonald’s in 2002 as a crew member on the front counter.

Over the last 19 years, she has participated in McDonald’s conventions, where she met her husband, Adam, who proposed to her at the 2013 Restaurant Manager Conference in Montreal.

Jennifer is a dynamic and adaptive leader, and the ideal team member to open the Duckworth Street restaurant in 2016 and successfully lead it through its first year and beyond. A champion for restaurant culture, Jennifer is a deserving recipient of this national recognition.

“McDonald’s has given me so much; it is an honour to work for owner/operators Jason and Jennifer O’Neill and to receive this recognition. I enjoy what I do and I will continue to provide premium service to our guests every day,” said Jennifer. “McDonald’s is truly a family affair for me as two of my siblings also started their careers here and I look forward to my children doing the same one day.”

“Jennifer is a true brand ambassador who has pride and respect for all things McDonald's,” said owner/operator Jason O’Neill. “This award is our way of thanking Jennifer for her ongoing efforts to grow and improve our engagement with our team and our  guests.”

Recognitions like the Outstanding Manager of the Year Award reflect McDonald’s commitment to creating memorable employment opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. With a focus on employee growth, the company strives to offer its employees with the skills and experience they need to progress in their careers, with around 90 per cent of restaurant managers beginning their careers as crew.

To help employees on their career path, McDonald’s Canada and its franchisees offer competitive wages, flexible work schedules and scholarship programs.
