Mom frantically searching for mistakenly donated baby blanket

'I know to some it's just a blanket, but not to us. It is very sentimental,' says Barrie mother Tina Campbell

This blue baby blanket was accidentally donated to a local Value Village over a month ago, but local mom Tina Campbell hopes someone can help her get it back.

The panicked search for a baby blanket is on and a local mother is hoping someone purchased the accidentally donated item and can get it back to her young daughter.

Tina Campbell’s daughter is turning three years old in August, so the Barrie mom and her ex-husband were going through some old things to get rid of and to donate to make room for new items.

It was shortly after the clean-up and sorting was done that Campbell realized the baby blanket made and gifted by her best friend and daughter’s godmother was gone.

“I looked over to where the blanket should have been and didn't know why it wasn’t there," Campbell told BarrieToday. "I started searching and panicked when I realized it must have ended up in one of the donations that we shipped out."

The blanket was made for Campbell’s daughter when she was born and is different shades of blue, from dark to light.

She noticed it was missing because that same friend is now expecting a baby and Campbell was hoping to give her some items which were sitting next to the blanket.

“Everything ended up in (my ex-husband's) car as he was the one dropping it off and we’re pretty sure he dropped it off at the Wellington (Street) Value Village, but we also are hoping anyone who got something from south-end location (on Caplan Avenue) will take a look as well,” Campbell said.

“It was between one and two months ago that the items were donated and the blanket was in perfect condition, so I feel like someone purchased it for sure,” she added.

Campbell has posted her plight on many Facebook pages and has been to both Value Village locations in Barrie, checking their blankets and baby sections.

But the search has turned up nothing, so far.

“I spoke with people who work behind the scenes and they checked the back and didn’t find it," she said. "They said they would keep an eye out, but at this point it seems like someone has purchased it and I’m hoping they see this and help us get it back.

“I know to some it's just a blanket, but not to us. It is very sentimental.”

Campbell said Value Village staff members have told her these things happen from time to time and if people get back within a day or two it is usually not an issue.

“It took us longer to notice, but I really am holding out hope someone has bought it and sees that we are looking for it,” she said.
