Nominations now open for Bradford's 2019 Civic Awards

There are new categories for the annual Civic Awards in Bradford West Gwillimbury, and the nomination period has been extended

TOWN OF BRADFORD WEST GWILLIMBURY

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury celebrates local citizens and groups that have made a significant contribution to the community with the presentation of annual Civic Awards at the Town’s Canada Day Celebrations on July 1.

Last year, Town Council voted to make changes to the BWG Civic Awards Programs, extending the nomination period and adding or modifying several categories.

Nominations are now open for awards in the following categories:

· Sports Achievement Award (individual)

· Organization of the Year (group)

· Citizen of the Year (individual)

· Junior Citizen of the Year (individual)­

· Senior of the Year (individual 55 +)

· Sports Team of the Year (group)

· Volunteer of the Year

· Bravery Award

Descriptions of each category and nomination forms are available online at www.townofbwg.com/CivicAwards. Nominations are open until Wednesday May 8, 2019.

Each nominee must be a resident, group or organization located in Bradford West Gwillimbury, and the nominee may not have previously received the award. Nominations must be for contributions that have positively impacted the community​ and that were made between May 1 of the previous year and April 30 of the current year. Specific examples and descriptions are required. At the discretion of Council, more than one award may be presented per category, or there may be no award in a given category if eligible nominations are not received. ​

The awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019, on the Main Stage at the Canada Day Celebrations at the Bradford and District Memorial Community Centre.
