Ontario reports 1,033 new COVID cases Sunday

Sunday's report includes 2,067 recoveries

Public Health Ontario has reported 1,033 new COVID cases in its latest report (May 30).

Today's update also includes 2,067 new recoveries and 18 deaths. 

The May 30 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 749 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 934 yesterday.
    • Of note, Public Health Ontario is also reporting that more than 10 per cent of hospitals did not submit data, which could mean an increase when those hospitals report again.
  • There are 614 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (down from 626 yesterday) and 417 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 438 reported yesterday).
  • The province reported 26,565 tests were processed yesterday for a positivity rate of 4.2 per cent.
  • Another 8,735 tests are still under investigation and/or being processed. To date, 15.2 million tests have been completed.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 237 are from Toronto, 214 cases are from Peel, and 80 are from York Region.

Vaccines

  • There were 144,833 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered on May 29 which is down from 148,972 administered on May 28.
  • As of 8 p.m. on May 29, the province reported 8,984,278 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered.
  • In total, 687,894 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 530,543 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 508,428 recoveries and 8,744 deaths, of which 3,950 were individuals living in long-term care facilities.
