Public Health Ontario reported 678 new COVID cases today for Aug. 25.
The latest update noted 513 recoveries and zero deaths.
Since yesterday's report, there have been 32 new hospitalizations, and four COVID-19 patients have been admitted to intensive care.
The Aug. 26 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- Of the new cases reported today, 395 were unvaccinated people, 82 were partially vaccinated, 141 were fully vaccinated, and 60 are listed as vaccination status unknown.
- 5,305 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 5,140 yesterday.
- 302 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario.
- Hospitalized cases (excluding ICU) include 137 unvaccinated people, 14 partially vaccinated, and 31 full vaccinated.
- There are 134 COVID-positive patients in intensive care, plus another 31 patients who no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- 71 COVID patients are on ventilators and another 18 patients on ventilators no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- ICU and ventilated cases include 89 unvaccinated people, nine partially vaccinated, and ten fully vaccinated.
- 9,844,659 Ontarians (about 66 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 916,087 have a single dose of COVID vaccine.
- The province reported 27,815 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 2.8 per cent positivity rate. Provincial labs have processed 17.1 million tests to date.
- Of the new cases reported today 144 are from Toronto, 102 are from Peel, 19 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 97 are from York Region.
- Today's cases include 84 individuals under 12 years old, 91 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 298 people between 20 and 39 years old, 143 people between 40 and 59 years old, 49 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 11 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 561,975 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 547,198 recoveries and 9,472 deaths.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,814.1 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 28.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 23 per cent from the week of Aug. 10.

Simcoe-Muskoka
Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 17 new COVID cases.
There are 158 active cases in the region, and nine people are hospitalized.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,698 cases of COVID-19 with 12,284 of those cases recovered and 256 cases ending in death.
Last week, the case incidence rate in Simcoe-Muskoka was 23.8 cases per 100,000 people over seven days, which is up by 26.9 per cent compared to the week of Aug. 10.
