Welcome to the Civic Holiday long weekend!

From several local multi-day festivals involving antique tractors, music and horses, plus farmers’ markets and LEGO, there is lots going on in Bradford West Gwillimbury and area.

FRIDAY, AUG. 3

Holland Marsh Food Market 

9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

1153 Canal Rd., Bradford 

Fresh produce straight from the Holland Marsh, plus baked goods, flowers, Sheldon Creek Dairy milk, Homestead Farms eggs, and Fresh Acre Farms meat. Food trucks and firewood also available. 

Georgian Bay Steam Show

Runs Aug. 3-6

Georgian Bay Steam Show Grounds, 4635 Victoria St. W., Cookstown

7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Antique tractors and cars, to-scale models, farm demonstrations, live music and more — great for the whole family.

Admission $8 per person on Friday and Monday, and $12 on Saturday and Sunday. Accompanied children under 12 are free.

Don’t miss the OTTPA Truck and Tractor Pull at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Kempenfest

Runs Aug. 3-6

Barrie’s waterfront, Lakeshore Drive

10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

More than 350 exhibitors in the largest outdoor arts and crafts festival in Ontario, plus the Optimist Antiques Show with 40 vendors, midway and kids’ arts and crafts centre.

Live music on the OLG main stage ($20 in advance; $25 at the gate, Friday to Sunday).

RBC Indie Stage ($10 Saturday and Sunday).

Headliners include Big Sugar and JoJo Mason. Some afternoon and Monday shows are free. See kempenfest.com for more information.

SATURDAY, AUG. 4

Bradford Farmers’ Market

8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Outside BWG Public Library 

Every Saturday until Oct. 6.

Enjoy live music, meet local community groups, and find produce from the Holland Marsh and beyond, including plants, flowers, herbs, honey, dairy products, maple syrup, cured meats, free-run eggs, baking, preserves, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, plus handmade arts and crafts.

Introduction to stand-up paddleboarding

9 a.m. to noon

Centennial Beach, Barrie

$50 per person

Introductory class will focus on introducing you to the sport of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) in a fun and safe manner. We will teach you the fundamentals, as well as proper safety.

Essa Canadian National Draft Horse Exhibition

9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Essa Agriplex, 7505 10th Line, Essa

General admission is $10, or $25 for a carload

The Essa Canadian Draft Horse Exhibition has been created to promote and showcase the three draft horse breeds in Ontario. This exhibition provides classes and events that will indicate to the world the diversity and strength of the breed.

The exhibition qualifies for the All Canadian competitions, the North American Classic 6 Horse Hitch program as well as various breeding programs run by the Ontario breed associations.
