There are several family-friendly activities happening in Bradford West Gwillimbury and area this Thanksgiving long weekend. 

FRIDAY, OCT. 5

Holland Marsh Food Market

9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

1153 Canal Rd., Bradford

Fresh produce straight from the Holland Marsh, plus baked goods, flowers, Sheldon Creek Dairy milk, Homestead Farms eggs, and Fresh Acre Farms meat.

Food trucks and firewood also available.

South Simcoe police food drive

Benefitting Innisfil Food Bank

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sobeys, 2080 Jans Blvd., Alcona

Event is part of a joint effort between the South Simcoe police, Innisfil Community Church, and Sobeys.

Items most needed include staples such as canned soup, canned pasta, Kraft Dinner, pasta sauce, pancake mix and syrup, canned tuna and salmon, juice, cereal, crackers and cookies.

People are welcome to purchase food items from a list handed out at the store entrance, get a pre-made bag of food available inside the store, or make a cash donation at the checkout.

Free annual community Thanksgiving dinner

5:30 p.m. doors open

St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 2940 Sideroad 10, Bradford

Thanksgiving dinner of turkey with all the trimmings will be served free.

An initiative of Greater Living Community Church. All welcome!

Last day to purchase tickets for Bradford United Church’s Murder Mystery Dinner

Event takes place Oct. 20 at the church, 66 Barrie St.

Includes a gourmet dinner and dessert, a sale of items, and the mystery, Café Murder.

Tickets are $40 each and are available by calling 905-775-7268.

Bradford Farmers’ Market — and Harvest Festival

The last regular market outdoors this year.

8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Outside BWG Public Library

Every Saturday until Oct. 6.

Enjoy live music, meet local community groups, and find produce from the Holland Marsh and beyond, including plants, flowers, herbs, honey, dairy products, maple syrup, cured meats, free-run eggs, baking, preserves, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, plus handmade arts and crafts.

Thanksgiving flower arrangement workshop

10 a.m. to noon

Country Cut Flowers, 970 Miller’s Sideroad, Newmarket

Cost is $75. Buy tickets online.

Participants will combine flowers and foraged materials in heirloom pumpkins. Spiced apple cider, tea, and treats will be provided.
