Area drivers hit with impaired charges in separate incidents

The South Simcoe Police Service recently laid the following impaired driving charges.

On Sunday, May 14, 2023, at approximately 9:10 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Church Street and Frederick Street in the town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

As a result of an investigation 41-year-old Jorge Serpa Ramos of Tottenham was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at approximately 8 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a licence plate violation. As a result of an investigation, 36-year-old Brett Elliot of Innisfil was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand and driving motor vehicle fail to display two plates.

Both drivers had their licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days.

Failure or refusal to provide a roadside breath sample has the same result as failing a roadside breath test. Your licence is suspended immediately for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.  Avoid drinking and driving by planning ahead. Impaired driving is 100 per cent avoidable.
