Bradford teen charged after police dismantle suspected drug lab

Suspected drugs were seized during a search warrant at a Bradford apartment over the weekend.

A 19-year-old from Bradford has been arrested and is facing drug charges after South Simcoe Police dismantled a suspected drug lab in downtown Bradford.

On July 14 at approximately 4 p.m., police went to an apartment on Holland Street to conduct a well-being check.

While in the apartment, police saw a large quantity of suspected drugs and arrested a man for Controlled Drug and Substances Act offences. Two of the officers who entered the apartment were taken to hospital as a precaution for inhalation of vapours but were cleared medically and resumed their duties.

On July 15, a search warrant was executed at the apartment and police seized 1.4 kilograms of suspected controlled substances and 1.4 kilograms of other substances used in the production of drugs.

Officers were able to safely remove and dispose of hazardous material that was in the unit.

Cosmin Baicu of Bradford has been charged with drug possession, production and trafficking offences.
