Driver with two kids inside vehicle charged with impaired

A man has been charged after police say he was driving while impaired Saturday with two young children in the vehicle in Innisfil.

At about 2:30 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service received a call from a citizen about a possible impaired driver near Innisfil Beach Road and Yonge Street.

Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, who they say had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The man was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired (excess blood-alcohol), and two counts of failing to provide necessaries of life. He was released from custody and will appear in court​ at a later date.

His name is not being released to protect the identities of the children.
