Fentanyl among drugs seized during Bradford traffic stop

South Simcoe Police say an officer received an unlicenced driver alert while conducting Automated Licence Plate Recognition enforcement

The South Simcoe Police Service charged a Toronto man with multiple offences after a traffic stop resulted in a drug seizure.

On Saturday, January 27, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., an officer conducting Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) enforcement in downtown Bradford obtained an unlicenced driver alert from a vehicle. A vehicle stop was conducted in the area of Boyd Lane and Melbourne Drive. Investigation determined the driver was on a release order with specific conditions not to operate a motor vehicle. He was placed under arrest. An investigation followed which resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia, a quantity of cash, marijuana, and a quantity of drugs including 95 grams of Fentanyl.  

As a result of an investigation, a 22-year-old man from Toronto was charged with multiple offences including:

  • Probation Order: Non-compliance
  • Failure to Comply with Judicial Release
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession for the Purpose (2 counts)
  • Possession of Controlled Drugs (2 counts)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Class G1 Licence Holder Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
