Innisfil man charged with robbery, assault with a weapon

Police say man entered victim's vehicle, assaulted driver, who exited vehicle and locked suspect inside

On Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the victim was leaving a shop in the area of Yonge Street and Victoria Street in the Town of Innisfil when a stranger entered the passenger side of his vehicle.

The suspect demanded the victim drive and threatened and assaulted him. The victim quickly jumped out of his vehicle and locked the suspect inside the car until police arrived. While in the car, the suspect damaged the interior. Once police were on scene, the suspect was arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation, 52-year-old Nelson Elliot of Innisfil was charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000. The accused was released with a future court date. No one was injured.
