INNISFIL - On May 23, 2018 a sexual assault was reported to South Simcoe Police Service. The alleged assault occurred on May 15, 2018 near Crossroads Park, Innisfil.
Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) officers have conducted an extensive investigation into this matter. Through the investigation, detectives have learned that the incident did not occur as reported. The South Simcoe Police Service has determined that there is no risk to the public.
Detectives would like to thank everyone who came forward to assist police during this investigation.
The South Simcoe Police Service continues to remind everyone to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings when walking in secluded areas. We are committed to ensuring public safety and encourage all victims of sexual assault to report it to police.
