TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - On Sunday, June, 21, 2020, at approximately 1:10 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), New Tecumseth Fire and Simcoe County Paramedic Services responded to a collision between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle on the 10th Side Road between the 2nd and 3rd Line in New Tecumseth.

A grey two-door passenger vehicle and a motorcycle were both travelling southbound on the 10th Side Road prior to the collision.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 34-year-old male from Burlington, and a female front passenger, did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene and commenced an investigation. A road closure was in effect in the area during the investigation.

The investigation is continuing. No charges have been laid at this time.

Investigators are looking for witnesses to this collision. If you have dash camera footage, surveillance footage or can offer any information relating to this collision, please contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 705-434-1939 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Unfortunately, this collision in Nottawasaga OPP's area is the latest reminder that even safe motorcyclists are vulnerable when sharing the road with other vehicles and that motor vehicle drivers play an important role in motorcycle safety. The Nottawasaga OPP is reminding motorcyclists to watch their speed, drive alcohol- and drug-free, and make themselves as visible as possible to other drivers.

During the riding season, motor vehicle drivers are reminded to keep a watchful eye out for motorcycles and ensure they are doing frequent blind spot checks.
