No serious injuries in south-Barrie crash

'The traffic light pole was struck and completely severed,' said police official

The driver of a car was not seriously injured after it struck a traffic light pole and a tree in Barrie early Thursday morning.

City police responded to a single-car crash at Madelaine Drive and Dean Avenue, southwest of Yonge Street, at 12:11 a.m.

“The traffic light pole was struck and completely severed,” said Peter Leon, corporate communications co-ordinator with Barrie Police Service.

The car’s driver did not suffer any serious injuries, police said, but did experience a personal health crisis that required hospitalization.

Police declined to provide any additional details.

The car, a black Volkswagen sedan, was badly damaged in the crash.
