Officers respond to barricaded person inside Innisfil home

The South Simcoe Police Service brought a peaceful, safe ending to a recent call involving a person in crisis who was barricaded inside an Innisfil home.

On Friday, March 4, 2022 at approximately 12:30 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a report of 30-year-old man who was being violent and damaging property inside a house. Upon police arrival, police learned the man had been involved in a physical altercation with another resident before barricading himself in a room and threatening to harm himself with a knife.

Officers contained the residence and began talking to the man through a door. An officer trained in crisis negotiation attended and took over communication. Around 3:30 a.m., the man surrendered peacefully without further incident and was safely apprehended.

Officers work tirelessly towards resolving high risk situations safely and peacefully. This call is an example of training and experience culminating in a safe, successful outcome for everyone involved.
