Pair of Innisfil drivers charged with impaired over the weekend

The second driver was charged after arriving at the scene to pick up the first driver

On Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at approximately 10:22 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a citizen's call regarding a damaged pickup truck travelling in the area of 5th Sideroad and Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested.  As a result of the investigation, 33-year-old Carmelo Magno of Innisfil was charged with Operation While Impaired - Excess Blood Alcohol.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Meanwhile, police had received another driving complaint concerning a Jeep in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 400.  As officers were on scene of the impaired driving arrest, the Jeep arrived to pick up the accused driver. The Jeep driver was also arrested. As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Philip Guilherme of Innisfil was charged with Operation While Impaired - Excess Blood Alcohol. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Driving impaired is a selfish choice that can take the lives of innocent citizens. For those who have lost loved ones, or those who have suffered injury, life will never be the same. Make the right choice for public safety. Drive sober or don't drive.
