Photos show suspect linked to theft at Newmarket parking lot

Police are seeking public's help in identifying a suspect following the theft of a large amount of cash from a truck parked at a busy plaza earlier this month

York Regional Police are releasing photographs of a suspect wanted in connection with a theft of a large amount of money from a truck parked at a Newmarket plaza earlier this month.

Anyone who can identify the suspect, a man aged between 40 and 50 with a medium build, is asked to contact police, a York Regional Police said in a news release.

According to police, the victim parked a black GMC pick-up truck in the plaza at the northeast corner of Leslie Street and Davis Drive June 2 and was away from it between 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. When he returned, a significant amount of cash inside the vehicle was missing.

Anyone in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious is asked to come forward and speak with investigators. Police are also asking anyone with dash cam video from the area around the time of the incident to contact them as soon as possible.
