Police respond to impaired driving, domestic incident over the weekend

Impaired driving

On Sunday, Nov. 13, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a report of a collision in a parking lot on Holland Street West in Bradford.  There were no injuries. The driver of the suspect vehicle was located nearby and arrested for impaired driving.

As a result of the investigation, 26-year-old Abilana Premkumar of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired - Excess Blood Alcohol and Dangerous Operation.  Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days.  She was released with a future court date.

Failure to appear in court

On Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service was called regarding a woman who was intoxicated and had fled from a vehicle into a large field.  The caller said the woman was not dressed for the weather and police subsequently learned she was wanted by SSPS on an outstanding warrant.  

The K9 Unit attended the scene and quickly located the woman hiding in a creek where she was concealed by high reeds and grass and not visible to the eye.  She was removed from the frigid water, placed under arrest and transported to North Division.  As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old Melanie Beausoleil of Innisfil was charged with Failing to Attend Court. She was released with a future court date.

Domestic Incident

The South Simcoe Police Service recently received a call for a man attempting to break into a neighbour’s house in Innisfil. Police arrived and attempted to make contact with a suspect inside the home but there was no response. The K9 Unit attended and the accused was located hiding in a bedroom. The man was on a court order not to be at the home. The accused was arrested and held for a bail hearing. He was charged with Break and Enter, Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Resist Arrest.

As this incident is of a domestic nature, no further details will be released to protect the identity of the victim.
