Report of erratic driving leads to impaired charges

An alleged impaired driver with open liquor in his vehicle was stopped by South Simcoe police who responded to a 911 call about a vehicle being driven erratically.

Police say on Monday at around 8:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a possibly impaired motorist in the area of Line 9 and Yonge Street in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

A traffic stop was conducted, police stated in a news release.

Following an investigation, Shivraj Kahlon, 44, of East Gwillimbury was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol, and driving motor vehicle with an open container or liquor.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days, police stated.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
