South Simcoe Police check over 360 vehicles during Super Bowl RIDE

The South Simcoe Police Service conducted enhanced Super Bowl RIDE programs from the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, to the morning of Monday, Feb. 14, 2022.  Police checked over 360 vehicles and conducted multiple roadside tests. Two three day licence suspensions were issued and one driver was charged with impaired driving.

As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Blayne Parkin of Stouffville was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.

Other recent impaired driving charges:

On Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver and located the vehicle in a parking lot on Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil.  As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Jason Sholtes-Green of Barrie was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.

Near simultaneous calls from concerned citizens resulted in impaired driving charges against two people in separate incidents.

On Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in the area of Line 9 and Yonge Street in Bradford.
Officers subsequently located the vehicle and the driver in the driveway of a Bradford home. As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Jason Mackenzie of Bradford was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.

Six minutes after that call, officers responded to another driving complaint from a citizen, this time in Innisfil.  Police attended a home in the Innisfil Beach Road and 25th Sideroad area where the vehicle and driver were located in the driveway. As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Henricus Slok of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.

All of the above accused had their licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days.

Impaired driving is a crime in progress.  Call 911 if you see a suspected impaired driver. We thank the citizens who make the call and work with us to keep our roads safe.

On Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer drove through a construction site in the area of Simcoe Road and 6th Line in Bradford. The officer observed two suspects in the process of stealing lumber from the site.

As a result of the investigation, 35-year-old John Cataldi of Toronto and 44-year-old David Pereira of Bolton were charged with theft over $5,000. They were released at the scene with a future court date.
