The South Simcoe Police Service laid the following impaired driving offences and issued three three-day licence suspensions.
On Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at approximately 2:15 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Highway 88 and McKinstry Road in Bradford West Gwillimbury. No one was injured. As a result of the investigation, a 90-year-old of Innisfil resident was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
On Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police were conducting a Festive RIDE program at the intersection of Sideroad 20 and the 9th Line in Innisfil. As a result of an investigation arising from a RIDE stop, a 28-year-old Innisfil resident was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol
On Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at approximately 4 a.m., an officer on patrol in Cookstown located a vehicle stopped in a live lane of traffic on Highway 27 and Wellington Street. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old from Beeton was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol (three counts)
- Operation while prohibited by order under the Criminal Code of Canada
- Careless driving
- Driving with open container of liquor
Three-day licence suspensions
On Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police were conducting a Festive RIDE program at the intersection of Sideroad 20 and the 9th Line in Innisfil. As a result of an investigation arising from a RIDE stop, an 18-year-old Innisfil woman was issued a three-day licence suspension and charged with:
- Novice driver presence of drugs
- Person under 19 years possess cannabis
- Drive cannabis readily available
On Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at approximately 8:20 p.m., police conducted a vehicle stop on Northgate Drive in Bradford West Gwillimbury. As a result of an investigation, a 28-year-old Bradford man was issued a three-day licence suspension and charged with:
- Novice driver presence of drugs
- Novice driver B.A.C. above zero and
- Drive cannabis readily available
On Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police were called to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Barrie Street and Fletcher Street in Bradford West Gwillimbury. No one was injured. As a result of an investigation, an 18-year-old Bradford woman was issued a three-day licence suspension and charged with:
- Novice driver presence of drugs and
- Unsafe pass
Citizens are reminded to do their part during the Festive RIDE campaign - and year-round - by never driving after consuming alcohol or drugs and never letting anyone else drive if they know or suspect that they have consumed either. The South Simcoe Police Service is committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives.
