The incident happened on Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. at a payday loan store in the area of Riverglen Drive and The Queensway South in Keswick, York Regional Police said in a news release.

An employee was exiting the store at closing time when a man who had been waiting outside threatened the victim with a gun. When they then entered the store, the suspect attempted to get money but was unsuccessful and fled the scene before police arrived.

Police have released two images of the suspect, captured on surveillance video, in hopes of identifying him.

He is described as a white male who is six feet tall. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a plaid baseball hat, red headphones, black clothes, grey gloves, grey high-top boots and a black mask.

The hold-up unit is also reminding business owners that it's important to maintain and update video surveillance technology as high-quality images can help in identifying suspects and aid in court proceedings.
