Two impaired driving charges laid within two days, police say

Charges come after South Simcoe police respond to reports of an erratic driver and a vehicle in the ditch

Two people have been charged with impaired driving in Innisfil in the past two days.

At about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, South Simcoe police responded to a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 400. A 37-year-old Innisfil man was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired (excess blood-alcohol).

At about 12:10 a.m. Thursday, police were called to the report of a vehicle in a ditch in the area of Yonge Street and Lockhart Road. The 24-year-old Barrie driver was not injured. He was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired (excess blood-alcohol), being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero, and being a Class G1 licence holder while unaccompanied by a qualified driver.

Both drivers’ licences will be suspended for 90 days and their vehicles will be impounded for seven days.
