In celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 17-23), the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is hosting an appreciation event for those in the Event Volunteer Program.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm, volunteers of the Event Volunteer Program will be invited to the Multi-Purpose Room at the BWG Leisure Centre for the Town’s “Our Volunteers are Sweet” event. The event will include treats from Sweet Bs, refreshments, and an awards ceremony.

Starting in 2017, the Event Volunteer Program has established a group of volunteers that have assisted with various community events in Bradford West Gwillimbury, including Canada Day, Carrot Fest, the Santa Claus Parade, and more. Through the program, the Town has been able to expand events and provide a higher level of service to the community.

Volunteers in the Program assist with a variety of tasks during events including event set-up and take-down, crafts, tracking attendance, distributing information, and collecting event surveys. Hours spent volunteering can be used towards Community Involvement.

The Volunteer Appreciation event is an opportunity to formally recognize and thank the volunteers for their exceptional efforts at events. “Volunteers play an important role and contribute to the success of our community events, and we want to take a moment to celebrate and thank them,” says Bethany Kuboniwa, Leisure Events and Marketing Supervisor.
