*************************

My name is Nusrat Awan. I am a long-time resident of Bradford West Gwillimbury and I’m running for the Simcoe County English Public School Board Trustee position.

My educational background is in electronics engineering technology and project management. I am a small business owner, real estate broker and mom to three children. I have raised my three kids in Bradford and being part of this growing community for several years, I know the needs and priorities of our community.

I have been volunteering for over 20 years in schools as a fundraiser, food bank helper, and mentor for college/university students. I have also been actively involved in assisting as a Girl Guide leader, women’s shelter leader and as an adult computer class teacher.

If elected, I will be the strong voice needed to ensure that all issues and concerns regarding Bradford schools are not only heard but also resolved in order to create a brighter tomorrow for our kids.

I will be a strong voice and offer fresh perspectives to:

  • Promote a healthy, inclusive environment in our schools
  • Bring maximum funding for our growing community school systems
  • Increase resources and funding for post-pandemic learning lessons and mental health support

I strongly believe that expanded parent and community engagement in our schools can improve and resolve a lot of student-related issues. I will expand and promote all communication channels for all stakeholders.

My highest priorities are to make sure that kids succeed academically and to keep every school environment safe and healthy. I firmly believe that today's students will shape the world of tomorrow. If elected, it will be my responsibility to create a system and strategic plan to ensure nothing less than the success of our children.
